Dozens of peers could be booted from the House of Lords under proposed reforms of the unelected second chamber.
Labour plans to shrink its size by forcing them to retire when they turn 80. The move leaves many members in the firing line, as there are 190 aged 80 and above, including 28 who are 90 or older.
But the proposed change has wiggle room, as peers who turn 80 must retire only at the end of that Parliament. The gap between general elections can last up to five years.
