The high school sports season is back!

Which means, after a three month hiatus, it's time for once again for everyone's favorite part of the week: The Gainesville Sun 's Athlete of the Week Poll.

Here are the best of the bunch from high school sports events the first week of the athletic season: August 18-25.

Nominations are due Monday morning, and they can be sent in by anyone — coaches, administrators, friends, family. It is imperative to send in nominations, so we can continue to honor the best!
