As a way to honor standout alumni and staff members of Danville Public Schools, the system will debut its first hall of fame class during an October event.

The inductees — both individuals and members of a championship team — will first be honored during George Washington High School’s homecoming football game planned Oct. 10.

At noon the following day, Oct. 11, the official ceremony at GW — Danville Public Schools Hall of Fame: Where Greatness Lives On — will pay tribute to the inductees.

“This is going to be a great event,” Danville School Board Vice Chair Keisha Averett said at Thursday night’s meeting, briefly detailing the hall of fame.

The event serves as a fundraising endeavor for the Danville Public Schools Education Foundation. It’s open to the public.
