CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced an additional $28 million in federal funding for North Carolina's ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene and other disasters, bringing the state's total recovery reimbursements to $124 million for August alone.
Secretary Kristi Noem announced the latest funding allocation on Aug. 24 as FEMA continues supporting the state's community cleanup efforts and infrastructure restoration following storm damage.
The new grants target specific recovery needs across multiple counties. Emergency protective actions taken by approximately 40 North Carolina communities following Helene will receive $14 million in reimbursements. Public parks and recreational facilities in Avery, Buncombe and Haywood counties and other communities
