A former teacher had more than twice the legal amount of alcohol in her blood when her vehicle collided with two other automobiles in the late spring.

The collision happened at Wellington Street East and Upton Road on June 3, Ontario Court Justice Heather Mendes heard Tuesday. Other drivers said a vehicle driven by Bonnie Pregent was being driven at a high rate of speed on Wellington.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded and spoke with Pregent. The Garden River First Nation member’s eyes were glossy and there was a slight odour of alcohol on her breath, said assistant Crown attorney Adrianna Mucciarelli. Pregent was taken to the police station. She gave two breath samples. Her readings were 180 and 175 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliltires of blood.
