LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After nearly seven decades, a Highlands staple has announced it's closing its doors.

On Tuesday, the Nearly New Shop announced it would be closing on Sept. 30.

A closing sale for the business, which is located in the basement of the Mid City Mall on Bardstown Road, is currently underway.

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW), Louisville Section, said its working with partner agencies to ensure any unsold merchandise can be repurposed to benefit people in the community. The resale store, which opened in 1956, helped fund the NCJW's programs.

Nearly New Shop's closure comes amid a potential major redevelopment of the Mid City Mall property.
