Now organizers are honouring his memory at this year’s fair by creating a one-year-only pie category in recognition of Young’s “unforgettable” winning entry.

The Bake Off, which has since raised more than $48,000 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation , returns Sept. 6 at the Prince Edward Curling Club at Picton’s fairgrounds.

Bakers of all ages and skill levels are invited to compete.
