CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. — The Georgia mayor and ex-Georgia State Patrol trooper being re-tried for a deadly 2015 crash took the stand Monday in his own defense.

It is the fourth day of the trial for Anthony Scott, who was on the job as a state trooper when he collided with a car carrying four teenagers on Sept. 26, 2015. Two of the passengers, 17-year-old Kylie Lindsey and 16-year-old Isabella Chincilla, were killed.

Today, Scott is the mayor of Buchanan in Haralson County.

His attorney in opening statements argued wet conditions, lack of yielding, and the speed of the other teen driver made the crash unavoidable.
