West Iredell is among 16 high schools across North Carolina that have been awarded $5,000 as part of T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights initiative, the wireless network giant announced Tuesday.

T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights is a nationwide contest supporting high school football programs in towns with populations under 150,000. Schools are required to have at least one active social media presence on Instagram or X in order to participate in the promotion.

A total of 450 schools nationwide will receive $5,000 by virtue of weekly drawings through Sept. 12.

Finalist schools will be announced and the voting period will open from Sept. 25 through Oct. 24. The top 25 finalists will score $25,000 and a T-Mobile-hosted home game.
