Birria Tacos at Salt Pepper Oak
I had heard great things about Salt Pepper Oak, a relatively new barbecue spot located in the Industriplex. The restaurant has counter service with delicious and affordable food.
We tried the birria tacos, which included smoked brisket tacos on seared corn tortillas with a side of birria consommé and topped with cotija cheese, pickled red onions and cilantro. The brisket was smoked to perfection and full of deep flavor and crispy edges. The consommé was savory and spicy, but the taco was so flavorful, I didn't need to dip it.
And since I can't go to a barbecue place without getting a chop sandwich, we also tried the smoked brisket chop sandwich, which was tasty. The brisket flavor blended well with the maple slaw, pickled onions, pickles and barbecue sauc
