Kirkland Lake artist and registered massage therapist Gina Boutin Rathwell was awarded first place in Areola Tattooing at the World Universal League of Permanent Makeup Canada 2025 Championship, held recently in Vaughan.

Representing her studio, SoulSpace Massage & Permanent Makeup, Boutin Rathwell competed among Canada’s top paramedical tattoo artists in a category that honors the deeply transformative work of areola reconstruction — often performed for breast cancer survivors and others seeking restorative care.

Her work was evaluated on key criteria such as symmetry, natural shading, realism, pigment technique, and anatomical accuracy.
