Poundland is closing stores up and down the country after agreeing a significant restructuring plan - with those in Erdington , Kings Heath and The Fort among them.

In June, the budget retail chain announced plans to permanently close 68 shops after being sold by Pepco Group to Peach Bidco, a subsidiary of private equity firm Gordon Brothers, for £1.

On Tuesday, the company informed a judge that the plan would prevent it from going into administration, with barristers stating at a hearing on Tuesday that it was expected to run out of money by 7 September if the scheme had not been approved.

The group has already closed numerous stores but will now be able to terminate these leases early and proceed with further closures.
