A man died Monday after he was electrocuted by a power line in Sterling Heights, state officials and police said.
Sterling Heights police said officers were called at about 2:30 p.m. to a location in the 6700 block of Metropolitan Parkway between Mound Road and Van Dyke Avenue for a report of a man on a mechanical lift being electrocuted after touching a power line. Callers reported the man was unconscious, officials said.
Police arrived and found the unresponsive 41-year-old Grosse Pointe Park resident still on the lift in the air and touching a power line, according to authorities. Sterling Heights firefighters and a crew with DTE Energy arrived shortly later, they said.
