A teenage boy who drowned while swimming at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire over the weekend has been identified as a local high school student.
Pinkerton Academy, a high school in Derry, confirmed Tuesday that the teen was Youness Kraouch, a senior at the school.

"The Pinkerton Academy community is deeply saddened by the loss of Youness Kraouch. A member of the class of 2026, Youness joined our community after his family moved here last year," the school said. "He loved soccer and enjoyed lively debates with his fellow students. Youness also loved talking about his culture with others. The entire Pinkerton community extends its condolences to Youness’s family, friends, and all who knew him."
