SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Officials have confirmed human remains were discovered Tuesday morning in a Smith County pond are those of a woman who's been missing for more than two years.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, the remains were identified as those of Courtney Martin, after confirming dental records provided by her family.
The search was initiated after witnesses in the area say they found a backpack and wallet belonging to Martin, who went missing in May 2023.
