Hummingbird species in Nevada are generally migratory, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture .

Each year, they travel from the southwestern United States and Mexico to breed in the summer months in northern states such as Nevada and Utah. As winter approaches, they return south to warmer climates.

According to Hummingbird Central, their breeding season is over, and now they'll start their journey back, which mirrors the paths they've taken throughout their life.

Chances are, the adult males have begun their trek south, but adult females and the youngest will be leaving in the coming weeks.

Here's how to enjoy the hummingbirds before they leave the area until next spring.
