Saturday morning cartoons weren’t just entertainment in the 1980s — they were a cherished ritual, and beacon of joy for kids.

There was Strawberry Shortcake with her curly red locks, green and white striped socks, and strawberry topped hat.

The Care Bears with their colorful belly badges and signature “Care Bear Stare.”

The anthropomorphic animal characters of the “Get Along Gang,” who held club meetings in an abandoned caboose.

This motley group of characters are more than just '80s icons. They are all the creative inventions of an illustrator who is small in stature yet big in creativity.

On Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30, meet the original creator of Strawberry Shortcake, the Care Bears and the Get Along Gang when artist Muriel Fahrion visits Helena for two special events.
