MISSOULA — Zero former Montana Grizzlies football players have made it through NFL roster cuts by the Tuesday afternoon deadline.
Junior Bergen, a Billings native and returner/receiver, was waived by the NFL's San Francisco 49ers. He returned four punts for 38 yards with a long of 28 yards and muffed a punt. He ran back six kicks for 128 yards (average 21.3) with a long of 25 yards. He was targeted just twice in the passing game, catching one pass for 1 yard.
He had signed a four-year contract reportedly worth about $4.3 million in the offseason. The 49ers selected him in the seventh round of the draft in April.
Patrick O'Connell, a Kalispell native and linebacker, was waived by the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. He finished with 12 tackles across three preseason games.
