BATON ROUGE, La. — Louisiana and Texas are among 19 states where as many as 1,700 National Guard troops will be deployed in the coming weeks as part of President Donald Trump’s initiative to tighten immigration enforcement and combat crime, Pentagon officials confirmed.

Texas is expected to receive the largest deployment. Guard members will work alongside federal immigration agents, though they will not have arrest authority.

Instead, they will provide logistical and operational support to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Other states slated to receive troops include Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia and Nevada, according to documents obtained by Fox News.
