GROVE CITY, Pa. - West Nile virus has been detected in Mercer County mosquitos. County officials say the sample was detected in Grove City, Pennsylvania and additional monitoring will be conducted in the area. This is the eleventh sample to test positive for the virus in Mercer County this year.
No human cases of West Nile virus have been reported at this time but Mercer County is advising residents to take extra precautions such as applying insect repellant when outdoors at dusk or dawn. Additionally, businesses and residents are advised to eliminate any standing water such as bird baths, discarded tires or any other containers of standing water to reduce mosquito breeding habitats.
