JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) - Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade announced on Tuesday that he would retire from the Jackson Police Department (JPD). Many residents have mixed feelings about the sudden announcement.
“I wish him a happy retirement. He has done very well. Let the retirement not be the end of your contribution to the community. We wish him very well and have a happy retirement," said one Jackson citizen.
Some residents said the announcement raises concerns about the future of public safety in the capital city.
“It’s very alarming and surprising. It speaks a lot of volumes to the schematics of the entire police force itself, if the head of the force himself is stepping down. That says a lot about what’s going on and who’s running behind the scenes. I think it’s just very concerning,
