SHREVEPORT, La. — Police have identified the man suspected of setting fire to the abandoned Jolie Apartments last week.

Police say Gustavo Avalos soon will be arrested for allegedly setting a building in the apartment complex on fire last Thursday. Avalos has not been arrested because he’s still in the hospital.

When released, he’ll be charged with squatting. Investigators say they’re looking to charge him with arson as well.

Video captured Avalos jumping off the smoky roof after police say he set fire to a building at the vacant Jolie Apartments. He is seen limping after the jump.

SPD says he called the fire department the next day asking for help, claiming he twisted his ankle while riding a bike.
