LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Two elderly women are recovering after an incident in a hot tub nearly turned tragic.

The reported incident happened on the evening of Aug. 20, according to Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team (WCSART) .

The women were among a group in their 80s staying at a remote cabin in Wolfe County when they decided to take a relaxing dip in the hot tub.

When the group decided to get out of the water, the two women – both with pre-existing conditions – were unable to stand, quickly becoming overheated and suffering from hyperthermia.

The situation turned critical when both women lost consciousness. Another woman who was with the group, got back in the water to keep the victims’ heads above water while another called 911.
