LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Trump administration has warned 46 states and territories, including Kentucky, to remove “gender ideology” from federally funded sex education programs.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said including such content in the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) violates the scope of grants under the Affordable Care Act.
Kentucky, which receives $1.4 million in PREP funding, has until Oct. 27 to submit a revised curriculum or risk losing federal support. California lost its grant last week for refusing to comply.
HHS emphasized that federal funds cannot support gender ideology or undermine the well-being of children.
