A veteran Calgary police officer has been charged with theft from several local hardware stores.
The Calgary Police Service said Tuesday it received a complaint this month stemming from fraudulent activity and multiple thefts from hardware stores in and around the city.
More than $10,000 worth of items were allegedly stolen over a 12-month period, according to CPS.
Following its investigation, CPS said the suspect was identified as one of its officers.

On Tuesday, Const. Bradley Tepper was relieved of duty and charged with one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of fraud over $5,000.
The 52-year-old is a 20-year member of CPS.
