A key piece of central Vancouver’s Heights District puzzle fell into place this week when city councilors agreed to purchase four properties near the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and North Devine Road for about $11.5 million.

The properties include three parcels totaling 2.73 acres near 5400 MacArthur Blvd., and a vacant parcel at 680 N. Devine Road. The MacArthur Boulevard properties currently house PeaceHealth’s Southwest Hospice , medical offices, storage and a parking lot.

City staff said the properties are needed to accommodate the Grand Loop, a two-way street that will circle the Heights District , a 205-acre, mixed-use, walkable neighborhood planned for the former Tower Mall site near the intersection of Mill Plain and MacArthur boulevards in central Vancouver.
