Those who’ve previously shopped the Aritzia Warehouse Sale know that it is not for the weak.

The annual sale at the Vancouver Convention Centre requires preparation, stamina and a willingness to wait — sometimes for hours.

The sale is famous for its steep discounts, but also equally infamous for its crowds and long wait to get into the sale. Shoppers have been known to head downtown as early as 3 or 4 a.m. to stake out a spot in line, in hopes of getting first pick of the sales racks.

The line for the sale typically includes a switchback portion inside the convention centre and a separate extended queue outside that lines the bike and pedestrian path outside the centre. Security guards are on hand to help direct crowds.
