Northwest Indiana residents plan to testify at upcoming U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hearings on interim rules about integrated steel mills and coke plants.

The EPA will hold a hearing on National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for steel mills on Sept. 3 and for coke plants like the SunCoke coke plant at Indiana Harbor Works in East Chicago on Sept. 4.

Environmentalists are concerned about the potential rollback of EPA rules on toxic pollutants like benzene and chromium.
