A body was found Tuesday morning in a creek near downtown Colorado Springs, according to Colorado Springs police.

The body was located around 8 a.m. where Shooks Run meets up with Fountain Creek near the East Las Vegas Street bridge.

"Clearly the creeks are running high, and there's a lot of rain. It doesn't look like anything suspicious or criminal, rather something more tragic," said Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson Ira Cronin.

East Las Vegas Street was closed but has reopened shortly after 9:30 a.m.
