Indigenous learners 17 years and older can earn free credits towards their high school diploma at Anishinawbek Kinomaadwin Gamig, the N’Swakamok Alternative School, located in the N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre.
Course material is presented through an Indigenous lens, with credits possible through e-learning, Co-operative Education, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), Prior Learning Assessment & Recognition, and hands-on learning.
“Students receive individualized support within a friendly community,” principal Heather Downey said in a release. “Students also have access to many programs and services, including small and large group instruction.
