Winston the chimpanzee died at age 38 from heart disease complications

Winston, a 38-year-old chimpanzee who lived at the Indianapolis Zoo, died "suddenly and unexpectedly" in the afternoon on Aug. 25. The zoo announced his death, and based on their initial findings, their veterinary team believes he passed away from complications due to heart disease.

Winston had many strong relationships in his chimpanzee community and a rich social life, according to a post shared by the zoo.
