ALLEN PARK -- Julian Okwara suffered a rib injury in his last preseason game last week, and the Cleveland Browns terminated his contract while trimming their roster to 53 players on Tuesday.
Okwara, the former 2020 third-round pick of the Detroit Lions and younger brother of retired edge defender Romeo Okwara, spent last season with the Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals. He signed with the Browns ahead of April’s draft during the offseason and made it to the end of training camp.
He appeared in 13 games while with the Cardinals, notching one sack and two quarterback hits. His four seasons in Detroit were interrupted by injuries, playing only 38 games during his time with the team that drafted him. Okwara’s best season came in 2021 when he posted career highs in games played (13),
