MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Senator Kennedy was welcomed to ULM’s campus by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, where he addressed some of the questions he has been asked about the federal budget.
As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Sen. Kennedy focused on the inner workings and wanted to clear up what he says are misconceptions about changes to Medicare.
“We’ve got a lot of people double double dipping,” Kennedy said. “We’ve got a lot of people who’ve signed up for Medicaid and make more than 100,000 a year. They will lose their Medicaid because we’re going to start enforcing the law, but they weren’t entitled to it in the first place. Under our bill, Medicaid will actually grow about 2% a year for each of the next ten years.”
