Why Bills cut Jimmy Ciarlo, inspiring Army grad and Hard Knocks fan favorite

Each year, Hard Knocks tries to pull at the heartstrings of its viewers.

This year, with the Buffalo Bills featured on the HBO show, one of the players the show latched onto was Jimmy Ciarlo.

Ciarlo is a linebacker out of Army, a player that the show displays coaches referring to as either "Army" or "West Point," an undrafted dreamer just trying to make an NFL roster.

He was hurt in the preseason in 2024 with the Jets, and this summer was his next chance to prove he belonged.

On Tuesday, though, the Bills cut Ciarlo. He won't be on the initial 53-man roster, although that doesn't preclude a spot on the practice squad.
