A power outage that began Monday in the North Shore community continued to leave a handful of Imperial Irrigation District customers without service Tuesday.
The outage was reported at about 2 p.m. Monday in the areas of Avenue 78, Coolidge Springs, Des Park, Avenue 79 and Desertaire Drive in North Shore and Mecca, according to IID.
About 1,100 residents were affected. Power was restored to most customers by Tuesday morning, but six remained without electricity.
An IID spokesperson told City News Service the outage was caused by flash floods and strong winds that knocked down about 302 power poles across the Coachella and Imperial valleys.
It was unclear when service would be restored for the remaining customers.
Customers experiencing outages were urged to call IID at 760-335-3640.
