ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- A local radio host will sign off for the very last time at the end of this week.

For the past 35 years, Chris Allinger of Q-Country 103.7 in Ithaca has been a familiar voice in Tompkins County and beyond. You could say he was born to be on the radio; both of his parents had careers in radio broadcasting, beginning in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Allinger said at the time, married couples couldn't work together, so they hid the fact from their employer for a time. Eventually Chris followed in their footsteps, though his first job in the radio business wasn't on the air.
