All-Star catcher Will Smith of the World Champion Dodgers unveiled a new reading center for students at Langdon Avenue Elementary School in North Hills on Tuesday, Aug. 26, the third of three pro-reading events at local schools spurred by the team’s World Series Legacy project.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Will and Cara Smith’s Catching Hope Foundation and the Dodgers Foundation teamed up to put on their latest event for youth, which included the presentation of the new “literacy corner” as well as new Dodger Blue hats and shirts for all the students.
Earlier, literacy-boosting events were hosted at other Los Angeles Unified School District campuses. Clifford Street Elementary in Echo Park showed off its new reading corner during the 2024 World Series last October. And South L.A.’s Manhattan
