A Maryland man was sentenced to life in prison for killing his neighbor, a rising boxing star.

Nicholas Giroux, 36, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for fatally shooting Isaiah Olugbemi in Odenton last year.

Olugbemi dreamed of being a professional boxer and loved spending time with his young son.

In May 2024, he won a prestigious Golden Gloves national championship, but just three weeks later, he was killed by his neighbor.

“The world lost a gem,” said the victim’s brother Daniel Olugbemi. “I can tell you that without any doubt. It’s the loss for the world, because Isaiah had so much to offer. And it was just cut short at the prime of his life.”
