DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Duluth designer Leo Spry is heading to New York Fashion Week next month, the country’s biggest fashion stage.
Among the pieces he’s prepared for the shows are a pair of loon camouflage pants, inspired by his Minnesota roots.
“It’s out there street style fashion,” said Spry. “It’s kind of like in high school, and I said I like to turn heads—that’s kind of like the clothes I like to make.”
Growing up in Bemidji, Minn., style was a personal passion but never a career path for Spry. It wasn’t until his senior year of college, when he was gifted a sewing machine during COVID.
In his free time, he started making clothing for friends.
“I made mainly sweatshirts for them with a tag line that said ‘hug your homies,’ and it just kind of took off on campus a l
