New York Jets wide receiver Malachi Corley made history Tuesday and not in a good way.

After officially being released from the team, Jets insider Rich Cimini revealed Corley's departure made NFL history.

"Corley, buried near the bottom of the depth chart throughout training camp, becomes the highest-drafted player from 2024 to be released, according to ESPN Research," wrote Cimini. "The regime that picked Corley was fired last season, which certainly didn't help his chances."

Despite the regime that drafted him being fired, Cimini points out that Corley still had a chance to make the team. It was his play (or lack of) in practice and the preseason games that cost him a roster spot.
