ASHEVILLE, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - Two restaurants in western North Carolina were chosen as part of fifty across the country to receive a grant meant to preserve history.

The Corner Kitchen in Asheville and Zadie’s Market in Marshall were chosen for the “Backing Historic Small Restaurants” program.

It is supported by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which selects 50 restaurants every year to receive $50,000 to help preserve historic buildings and culinary heritage.

Both western NC restaurants selected as part of the program were hit hard by Hurricane Helene but have since reopened.
