The Baltimore County Council is undergoing a redistricting process for 2025, aimed at adjusting council district lines based on the latest census data and expanding the council from seven to nine seats.

The redistricting plans have been a controversial topic with many residents who disagree with the previously proposed maps. Many residents in the Woodlawn area said they want a map that better represents that community.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Maryland released a statement last week, claiming the planned redistricting map packs most of Baltimore County’s Black voters into just two districts.

The final vote on the new map is set for Sept. 15. There is an Oct. 1 deadline for redistricting.
