Ahead of Friday's annual Burning of Zozobra, the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe unveiled a monument at Fort Marcy park — complete with time capsules set to be opened in 25-year increments.

The monument is located at the park's entry sign, which is now surrounded by painted flames, at the corner of Bishops Lodge and Artist roads. Concrete blocks and commemorative engraved bricks on the ground comprise a rendition of Zozobra; his hair is decorated with colorful crystal-like rocks that house the time capsules.

The project was fronted by project manager Ken Simington and landscape designer Owen Nelson, plus the Santa-Fe based company Design Solutions and a slew of local artists.
