GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A congressman who represents part of North Central Florida is talking to TV20 about his proposal to create a new national park in our area.

Representative Randy Fine says his proposal for what would be called Florida Springs National Park could benefit the economy of much of North Central Florida.

The area that would be studied for the park covers 2,800 square miles and includes places in Ocala National Forest, Paynes Prairie, and Camp Blanding.

“Imagine people driving on I-95 or I-75 as they’re going to Disneyworld or Universal, seeing a sign that says Florida Springs National Park, we would see millions of new tourists to this part of Florida.”
