The Columbia Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot near Hickman High School just before noon Tuesday.
The Police Department said there is no threat to community after an investigation into the report.
The Police Department was dispatched to Forest Avenue around 11:55 a.m. for a report of a single shot heard, according to a release the department posted to its Facebook page .
The Police Department said officers quickly found a person in the 1000 block of Grand Avenue who reported shooting their gun at an aggressive dog.
Hickman High School briefly went into secured protocol, which has since been lifted, according to the Police Department.
The Police Department said officers were still investigating around 12:30 p.m.
