The man accused of shooting someone during a gathering of car enthusiasts Saturday night in the parking lot of Sprouts Farmers Market in Grand Junction has been handed a $250,000 cash bond by Judge Jennilynn Lawrence.

Arthur Lucas, 45, of Montrose, has been charged with first-degree assault and illegal discharge of a weapon after being taken into custody Sunday in Montrose.

Police were dispatched to the incident, reportedly a car meet-up, at about 8:45 p.m. on Saturday for reports of vandalism, a car running people over and a possible gunshot.

Police said video of the incident shows Lucas appearing to shoot into a passing car, which was being bombarded with rocks and hit by a crowd for reasons that were unclear in Lucas’s arrest affidavit.
