The Pittsburgh Steelers surprisingly cut safety Chuck Clark and cornerback James Pierre on Tuesday. As it stands, the Steelers have just eight defensive backs on the roster, meaning that both players could circle back.
Clark and Pierre are vested veterans who do not have to clear waivers, making it much easier to bring those players back on the roster. They could be signed back as soon as Thursday.
Clark is coming off two back-to-back seasons with serious injuries. He missed all of 2023 with a torn ACL, and returned for the 2024 season, but it was ended early by a torn pectoral muscle.
Clark started 12 games for the Jets with 69 tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass deflections. His most productive years came with the Ravens, where he was a starter from 2019 to 2022.
