DAVIS, Calif. —

A splash pad built to honor the legacy of a slain Davis police officer has closed less than two weeks after it opened to the public, according to the city's Parks and Community Services department.

Natalie's Corner Splash Pad, which opened in the city's Central Park at the corner of B and 5th streets on Aug. 16 , was dedicated to Officer Natalie Corona.

Corona was shot and killed in the line of duty more than six years ago.

Organizers described Natalie’s Corner as a joyful space that invites play and remembrance in equal measure.

On Tuesday, the city said the splash pad would close for maintenance, and there was no estimated date of reopening.
