SAULT STE. MARIE — Classes are underway at Lake Superior State University for the beginning of the 2025-26 academic year.

Students began moving into their dorms last week, and Monday, Aug. 25 marked their first day of class.

For many freshmen, the day was a long-awaited experience. Many students travel from across the state to enroll at LSSU, and are now experiencing the Sault community for the first time.

Freshman Gabrielle Schultz previously lived four hours away from LSSU and moved to the area for school. She said the experience of being in a new city is exciting.
