JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - A murder suspect in a cold case from the 1980’s is now back in Mid-Michigan more than four decades after the alleged crime. 74-year-old Leonard Hugall was booked into the Jackson County jail Tuesday night after being extradited from Florida.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says Hugall is responsible for the death of his late step-daughter, Kelly Harris, who was reported missing from Summit Township in August of 1984 at the age of 13. Harris was never seen again.
The case remained active for years and earlier this month, Jackson County Prosecutor Kelsey Guernsey and Sheriff Gary Schuette announced they were charging Hugall with murder in relation to Harris’ disappearance.
